Suppose you were to die today, and God was to ask you, “Why
should I let you into My heaven?” What would you say?
Would you have eternal life with God in heaven?
The Bible says in 1 John 5:13, “These
things have I written to you who believe on the name of
the Son of God; that you may have eternal life.”
The problem that we all face is that we are not perfect.
God is a perfect and holy God and He cannot look upon sin.
Romans 3:23, “All
have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
Sin basically means you have missed the mark. Much like
a person shooting an arrow at a target. If he does not hit
the bulls eye, he missies the mark. God set the standard
with his word, the Bible. He judges us with His word.
Since
we have all missed the mark or sinned, we have separated
ourselves from God. There is a penalty for sin. In Romans
6:23, “The wages
of sin is death.” This death
means a spiritual death or eternal separation from God.
We refer this separation from God as hell, according to
Luke 12:5, “Fear
Him who, after He has killed, has the power to cast into
hell.”
That is why He sent Jesus, His only Son, into this world.
John 3:16, “For God
so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting
life.” Jesus came to seek
out and make a way for salvation to all who believe. Jesus
stated in John 14:6, “I
am the way, the truth, and the life; no man comes to the
Father except through Me.”
Jesus is the only way we can receive heaven. We cannot earn
it ourselves because it only takes one sin to cast us out.
So the love Jesus has for you is real and He wants you to
spend eternity with Him.
First,
you must believe, by faith, that Jesus is the Son of God.
James 2:19, “You
believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons
believe and tremble!” Believing
is more than just hearing facts about Jesus. It is trusting
in Jesus. Second, you must repent. Repent means to turn
or make a u-turn in your life. It is not feeling sorry for
your actions. It is leaving the old lifestyle and following
the way of the Bible. Acts 3:19, “Repent
therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted
out.” Thirdly, you must
confess your sins. Romans 10:9-10, “If
you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus Christ and believe
in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will
be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness,
with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Basically, you need to ask Jesus to forgive you of your
sins and ask Him to be your Savior and give you eternal
life. It is a simple process because Jesus did the hard
part when He died on the cross for your sins. If you have
a sincere heart and would like to ask Jesus to forgive you
of your sins, you may pray a simple prayer like this:
Dear Jesus, I know I am a sinner.
I know that because of my sins I cannot enter into heaven.
I want to go to heaven and I know you are the only way.
So I ask you to forgive me of my sins and I ask you to
come into my life and be my Lord and Savior. Thank you
for your love and forgiveness. And thank you for giving
me eternal life in heaven. Amen.
I would like to encourage you to affiliate
yourself with a local church. There is where you will begin
to learn and grow. You can talk to the pastor to see about
being baptized and getting involved in Sunday School.
If this has raised any questions you may have, please feel
free to contact our pastor at the church office and he'll be glad
to sit down with you and explain what all this means. We
hope to see you in our church this Sunday morning.
